C. E. Gatchalian's CROSSING

C. E. GATCHALIAN'S CROSSING WILL BE GIVEN A PUBLIC STAGED READING ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 23 AT 8 PM AT THE FESTIVAL STUDIO THEATRE, 1398 CARTWRIGHT STREET on GRANVILLE ISLAND

Friends:

Just wanted to let you know that my full-length play Crossing will be given a staged reading on Friday, January 23 at 8 pm at the Festival Studio Theatre on Granville Island (1398 Cartwright St.). It will be part of the Playwrights Theatre Centre's "The Process" reading series. It will be directed by Amanda Lockitch and will feature some of Vancouver's top actors.

Here's a synopsis of the play:

Crossing dramatizes the tormented relationship of Lucy, a young mother, and Kieren, her teenage son. Throughout the course of an evening, they engage in sadistic memory games, intent to push the other closer off the edge through peek-a-boo revelations of past horrible truths. Religious overtones are very strong in the play, particularly in its structure, which is based largely on the Mass Proper for Good Friday. The play also wrestles with the Easter archetype, and the grand Christian themes of the death and resurrection of Christ.

Sounds a bit heavy, I know, but the play's actually kinda fun.:-)

I hope that you can make it!

Best,
Chris
