Davenport Neighbours for Peace presents:

A public forum on racism and racial profiling in response to attacks on the local neighbourhood mosque and ongoing racial profiling of Arabs, Muslims, and people of colour

Featuring:

Shabir Ally - president of the International Dawah and Islamic Information Centre, the local neighbourhood mosque which was vandalised on December 11, 2003. Mr. Ally will talk about the
response of the Muslim community to the attack, what we can do to support our Muslim neighbours, and how to build tolerance and respect in our community.

Adam Giambrone - Toronto city councillor for Ward 18, Davenport. A recently elected member of Toronto City Council, Mr. Giambrone is a progressive voice for peace and justice both within the neighbourhood and across the city. Adam will talk about the role politicians can play at the local level and on council in opposing
racism and racial profiling.

Chantal Sundaram - a founding member of Project Threadbare, a city-wide coalition that came together in response to the detention of 21 Pakistani and South Indian men who were unjustly accused of "terrorism" but were never charged and eventually released. Chantal will talk about the broader campaign to oppose racial profiling and to defend civil liberties.

Organised by Davenport Neighbours for Peace, a local neighbourhood peace group that came together last year to oppose the drive to war against Iraq.
