For more than 1500 years, the Chinese have represented their
landscape in paint, not only as nature has created it, but also by
portraying in these romantic views a sense of poetic reality. 20th
century Chinese painters continued the age-old Eastern tradition of
romantic landscape painting while introducing Western art ideas and
techniques with Eastern ones. Romantic Views: Chinese Landscapes
presents over 100 Romantic landscapes by 20th century Chinese
painters.
