Tai-gu Tales Dance Theatre of Taiwan (February 3-7 at 8 p.m.)

Led by choreographer and dancer Hsiu-Wei Lin, Tai-gu Tales Dance Theatre make their Toronto debut with the inspirational journey of The Life of Mandala. A demon temptress, flickering candles and a set representative of earth and sky all mark the progress of our hero on his path to Nirvana. Primitive ritual, sacred movement, Buddhist chanting and the acrobatics of Peking Opera combine to make up the unique style of Tai-Gu Tales in this tale of the triumph of the human spirit and its quest for enlightenment.
