PEOPLE OF COLOUR AND NATIVE PEOPLE IN PUBLISHING SYMPOSIUM

Come hear published authors, poets and other knowledgeable people involved in publishing, speak about various aspects related to publishing: from tips for writers on how to navigate through writing grant proposals, sending out manuscripts and getting published, to broad discussions on race, identity and representation within the industry itself. This event is geared towards anyone interested in creative writing and in discussions of race, representation and marketing in the publishing industry. Specifically, this Symposium will appeal to Native people, and people of colour who are interested in getting their works of fiction, literary non-fiction and poetry published. 12pm - 1pm Workshop 2 - Grants for Writers: Rachel Zolf, Published Poet

1 pm - 2 pm Lunch (not provided)

2 pm - 3 pm Workshop 3 - Overview of Canadian Publishers: Erin Creasey, Literary Press Group and Anjula Gogia, Toronto Women's Bookstore

3 pm - 5 pm Panel Discussion:
Race, Identity, and Representation in the Publishing Industry: Judy Fong Bates, Published Author; Donna Bailey Nurse, Literary Critic; Marilyn Dumont, Published Poet; Other Presenters T.B.C.
