Urban Forest is as much about how the urbanite perceives the forest as about the forest itself. This exhibit questions how we relate to the woods when we live in the cities. Yet, as humans exist both within the natural world and in relation to it, Urban Forest is also about how we experience our relationship with nature and the wilderness.

Curator James Robertson brings his interest in the abstracted and mythologized woods to the Tatar Gallery, grouping together artists from Amsterdam, Seoul, and Toronto in this unique exhibit. Through various media, the forest and the idea of the forest are probed and considered by a number of modern, urban artists.
