The Young Artist Showcase gives teen artists a chance to be part of a group show at the XEXE Gallery in the Queen St. West neighbourhood and win an artist materials package worth $500 donated by Aboveground Art Supplies and a cash prize.
Artscape, a non-profit organization that creates space for the arts, invites artists to exhibit during the second annual Queen West Art Crawl, a weekend-long event celebrating the arts on Toronto's Queen Street West, running September 17 - 19, 2004. Artscape is currently accepting applications from artists to exhibit in the Outdoor Art Show & Sale in Trinity-Bellwoods Park, to host an Open Studio in the area of Queen Street West from Spadina to Roncesvalles, or to apply to the Young Artist Showcase.
The Queen West Art Crawl, now in its second year, has quickly found its place as one of Toronto's hot ticket events. Building on our successful maiden voyage last year, which attracted thousands of spectators and earned an impressive amount of media coverage, we are excited to launch another exciting Crawl. In addition to the Outdoor Art Show & Sale, Artist Open Studios, Young Artist Showcase and various events at local businesses and galleries, we are pleased to present nightly programs showcasing the talents of performance artists, film and video makers, musicians and other local personalities.
We are currently accepting applications from artists in the following categories:
Outdoor Art Show & Sale and Artist Open Studios - If you are interested in exhibiting and selling your work at the Outdoor Art Show & Sale at Trinity-Bellwoods Park on Saturday, September 18, or opening your studio on Saturday, September 18 and/or Sunday, September 19 please visit www.torontoartscape.on.ca/qwac for more information and to obtain the Queen West Art Crawl Artist Registration Form, or contact Clinton Walker, Festival Programmer of the Queen West Art Crawl at Tel 416-392-1038 ext. 30 or E-mail at events@torontoartscape.on.ca. Deadline for Queen West Art Crawl Artist Registration Forms: Tuesday, August 3, 2004. There is a $100 non-refundable registration fee for participating in the event. All artists who are selected to participate will be provided with a listing in the Queen West Art Crawl Guide.
Young Artist Showcase - ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ATTENTION! Are you a young artist in high school in the GTA looking to show your work in a group show and maybe win cash and some cool artist materials from Aboveground Art Supplies? Why not submit your work to the Young Artist Showcase. It costs nothing to submit. The only requirement is that you are a high school student currently registered at a high school in the GTA or newly graduated from one. Deadline for submission to the Young Artist Showcase is July 30. A free Guide for the Queen West Art Crawl will be produced containing a map and listing all artists, shows and events. The Queen West Art Crawl Guide will be distributed in advance of the festival to Queen Street West businesses and galleries as well as various citywide locations.
