Art Gallery of Mississauga & The City of Mississauga

The City of Mississauga has recently expanded and renovated four community centres in our City as well as a Branch Library. Art will be an important component of these newly rejuvenated facilities. In an effort to involve the communities that utilize these centres in these proposed community based art projects we are seeking artists with special vision to create and oversee the implementation of five separate initiatives. The particular themes will be established by each centre and will be relevant to neighbourhood interests or issues. The artist will develop a project specific to the theme and the individual community space that will require the community to be involved with the realization of the artwork. This letter is a call for interest to artists whom feel they have the vision and ability to work collaboratively to realize these dynamic community based art ventures.

Each project will pay an artist's fee of $5000 and the materials required for fabrication will be supplied by the donations. Specific space information and the type of activity that each centre provides are available by accessing www.mississauga.ca/recreationandparks

Your proposal should include;
-a statement of interest (why you want to be involved in the project and what skills you have that would make you good selection).
-a biography including education, exhibitions, past commissions, collections in which your work is represented and other community projects you have been involved with.
-20 slides of past work including any previously commissioned work; or a CD with images of your artwork.
