Trinity Square Video Themed Commission Programme

AFFECTION

Call for Submissions
Deadline for proposals: September 24, 2004, 6pm.

In Love, as in gluttony, pleasure is a matter of the utmost precision. -Italo Calvino

A mild fondness... an all-consuming passion... the source of happiness and well-being. Situated at the top of Maslow's hierarchy of needs, affection is the most intangible and elusive of life's essentials. You can't live without food or shelter, but is life worth living without affection?

The unrequited lover will tell you that affection is an affliction; while psychiatrists explain our grown-up ills by pointing to the quantity and quality of love we received in childhood.

Trinity Square Video wants you to get in touch with your feelings for our latest themed commission!

Trinity Square Video calls for proposals for videos about affection and the personal, psychological, financial or political role it plays in society. TSV encourages both emerging and mid-career artists to submit proposals.

Selected artists receive:
$550 in production equipment rentals
40 hours in the Final Cut Pro Editing Suite and a FCP workshop
TSV membership or renewal
a $300 artist fee
a screening and artist talk
