THE VANCOUVER BOARD OF PARKS AND RECREATION

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM - CALL FOR ARTIST APPLICATIONS

Submission Deadline: 5:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 2004

The purpose of the Artist in Residence Program is to support artists working
in community contexts and to encourage the development of a wide variety of
interactions between artists and community members. The term 'residence' in
this program refers not to where the artist lives, but to their commitment
to, and consideration of, the peoples, places and issues located in the
participating communities.

Artists from all disciplines, including writers, composers, visual artists,
dancers, musicians, poets, choreographers, theatre artists, celebration
artists, video artists, and performance artists, are invited to submit
proposals. After September 1rst, application packages will be available (for
pick-up only) at each of the participating Community Centres listed below,
at the Roundhouse Community Centre (Davie and Pacific) and at the Park Board
Office, 2099 Beach Avenue. Information is also available on our website at:

www.vancouverparks.ca

The residencies provide an artist's fee of $8,000 and a materials budget of
up to $2,000.

Projects may take place at any time of year as long as they are completed
within 2005.
