Canadian Plays in Development 2005 at University of Lethbridge
The University of Lethbridge Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Theatre and Dramatic Arts invites Canadian playwrights to submit previously unproduced* plays for development through its Canadian Plays in Development program which operates between May 9 - June 22, 2005. The program will select up to three scripts for development leading to public readings and/or presentations. Length of workshop is up to the discretion of the department. Over the past years the company has presented works by Emil Sher, Mitch Miyagawa, Kathleen McDonnell, Sally Stubbs, Tony Berto and Corinne Hodgson.
This program is subject to budgetary approval. Stipends for successful applicants will be negotiated (subject to applicable payroll deductions) according to program budgets. The successful applicant will be responsible for travel and accommodation costs. On-campus private residence accommodation, not including meals, is available at $39.20 per night (rates in effect Sept 2004).
The playwright's application should include:
· An unbound copy of the script.
. Cast/Character list including ages and gender, a synopsis of the play, and a two-line summary of the play.
· A detailed resume of the playwright's writing experience and, if applicable, teaching experience.
· A letter indicating the specific goals of the playwright.
· Two letters of support from members of the Canadian theatre community familiar with the playwright's work.
. Contact information for the playwright including phone numbers, mailing address and email address.
· Any additional supporting documents.
. A self-addressed stamped envelope (if return of materials is required)
Given present resources applicants are urged to send materials as soon as possible. In order to be considered submissions must be postmarked no later than December 15, 2004. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Successful applicants will be advised on or before March 1, 2005.
