CHUM DISASTER RELIEF DAY

CHUM Limited Partners with the Canadian Red Cross for
CHUM DISASTER RELIEF DAY
To Aid the Tsunami Survivors

CHUM Limited announces a one-day national media blitz across its 32 radio and 33 television stations to raise critical funds to aid relief efforts for tsunami survivors. In partnership with the Canadian Red Cross, CHUM has designated tomorrow, Wednesday, January 5, as CHUM Disaster Relief Day.

CHUM Limited also announces a corporate donation of $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to kick off the fundraising initiative and aid in relief efforts.

CHUM is harnessing all of its media forces on all platforms - including radio, television and websites - to urge Canadians to help the Red Cross bring relief to the survivors of this disaster.

Beginning at 6am ET and going through to midnight PT, all CHUM radio and television stations will direct listeners and viewers to a specially designated toll free number (1-800-810-1408) created by the Red Cross to handle the increased volume of calls. The line will be operational for a full week following tomorrow's events. Online donations can be made at www.redcross.ca/chum, which can also be accessed via www.chumlimited.com or through any CHUM radio or television station website.

All 32 CHUM radio stations will participate in a full-blown radiothon on January 5. Stations will carry CHUM-produced Public Service Announcements (PSA) each hour with the phone line and website heavily promoted throughout the day. On-air announcers will conduct interviews with Red Cross staff and special guests, and talk to listeners who have been personally affected by the disaster. There will also be live musical performances and interviews with Canadian music artists and stars such as Jacksoul, Tom Cochrane, Kalan Porter, Finger Eleven, Billy Talent, Sarah Harmer, Shaye, Jim Cuddy, Keshia Chante, Jann Arden and more.

CHUM's 33 local and specialty television stations will devote extensive airtime throughout the day to create an intensive media blitz in support of the campaign, including comprehensive coverage on local morning shows and newscasts, featuring panels, special guests, experts and relief updates. All across the country, CHUM local stations - and national and regional specialty channels, such as MuchMusic - will promote CHUM Disaster Relief Day via original PSAs, on-screen crawls, news updates, live programming and special features.

"We want to do whatever we can to help bring aid to the hundreds of thousands of people in need right now," said Jay Switzer, President and CEO, CHUM Limited. "CHUM is committing our considerable media resources across the country - as well as providing financial support - to help the Canadian Red Cross reach Canadians to assist those in crisis."

"The Canadian Red Cross is overwhelmed by the generosity of the public and private sector in response to this incredible humanitarian disaster," said John Mulvihill, Deputy Secretary General, Operations, Canadian Red Cross. "The CHUM radio and television event planned for Wednesday, January 5th is an enormous contribution in affording Canadians from coast to coast a wonderful opportunity to be involved in reaching out to those in need. To everyone involved throughout the CHUM family, members of the Red Cross family express their sincere appreciation."
