Assistant Professor - Studio Art
The University of Lethbridge, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Art invites applications for a tenure-track position in Studio Art, at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective July 1, 2005, and subject to Board of Governor's approval.
The ideal candidate will have an interdisciplinary practice and be able to teach existing courses at all levels of an undergraduate program. Demonstrable strengths in more than one of the following areas are required: painting, photo arts, digital media, and/or the ability to integrate print technologies with digital media. An MFA in the Arts or equivalent terminal degree, a strong theoretical background and knowledge of contemporary issues, excellent technical skills and commitment to studio practice are required. An extensive exhibition record and post-secondary teaching experience are necessary. Experience in performance and/or public art would also be an asset. The applicant should also be prepared to participate in a Special Case MFA program and to take an active administrative role.
The Department of Art is a relatively small, but dynamic faculty that integrates studio practice with courses in art history, critical theory and museum studies. The University houses one of the most significant collections of art in Canada and is centred in an active arts community.
