Awarded the prestigious Beethoven Fellowship by the American Pianists Association in 1991, Anthony has also won top honors from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, the Society of American Musicians, the Music Teachers National Association, the National Chopin-Koszciuszko Foundation, the Harvard Musical Association, and the Theodore Presser Foundation. In addition, he is also a laureate of the Walter Naumburg, the Gina Bachauer, the William Kapell, and the Cleveland International Piano Competitions. In February 2000, he was awarded the top prize at the Concert Artists Guild Competition in New York.

A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, he served as teaching assistant for Natalya Antonova and Jeffrey Kahane, and also studied with Professor Antonova at the Gnesin Institute of Music in Moscow, Russia. Other teachers include the late Jorge Bolet at the Curtis Institute of Music, Béla Síki at the University of Washington, Donald Walker at Northern Illinois University, and Nelita True at the Eastman School of Music.

Formerly on the piano faculty at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, he is currently a professor of piano and chamber music at the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in Appleton, Wisconsin, and Artist-in-Residence at the Bay View Music Festival Conservatory in Petoskey, Michigan.
