CALL FOR EXHIBITION PROPOSALS - 2006-07 PROGRAM

Founded in 1980, Dazibao is an artist-run centre dedicated to the dissemination of contemporary photography. Through the diffusion of exhibitions, publications, conferences, meetings with artists, lectures, performances, Dazibao embraces artistic practices and theoretical reflections that offer unique and innovative points of view on photography by proposing fresh links with other disciplines or by engaging with the most recent technological developments taking place in the production and dissemination of images. Dazibao welcomes artists from Quebec, from elsewhere in Canada and from around the world, who propose challenging approaches to the photographic practice. The centre serves as both a launching pad for young artists and as an ideal space for more established artists to initiate and disseminate experimental projects. Dazibao, in sum, defines itself as a site for dissemination, exchange, research, a publisher, and an archival information centre.

YOUR SUBMISSION SHOULD INCLUDE:
1. a maximum of 20 slides, well identified accompanied with a slide list (title of the work, medium, size and date); please DO NOT send original work. It's also possible to, in addition, include photographs (no original work), VHS tapes, DVDs or CD-ROMs (Mac), well identified. We will NOT be accepting web links or any variety of digital images that are emailed to Dazibao.

2. a clear description of your project;

3. an artist statement;

4. a curriculum vitae;

5. a self-addressed stamped envelope. You MUST include this to be considered.

ATTENTION ! NEW DEADLINES
Deadlines for submissions are September 1st and January 1st of each year.
Submissions must be postmarked no later than September 1st or January 1st. If these dates fall on a weekend or statutory holiday, the deadline moves to the next business day. Incomplete submissions, submissions sent after the competition closing date and submissions sent by e-mail or fax will not be accepted.
Results will be known within six months.
