French 'Spiderman' climbs 62-storey Hong Kong skyscraper

HONG KONG (AP) - A Frenchman who calls himself Spiderman scaled a 62-storey skyscraper in Hong Kong on Saturday. Wearing just a pair of red pants, Alain Robert climbed the Cheung Kong Centre in about an hour, pausing several times to rest and answer his cell phone.

"I can't talk to you right now. I'm climbing," Robert told a reporter.

At the top, he waved to the small crowd of spectators below.

Robert, renowned for climbing without ropes or other equipment, scaled the world's tallest building - Taipei 101 - last December. The 512-metre building is in Taiwan.

He has also climbed the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Empire State Building in New York City.
