INDONESIAN ARTWORK STOLEN FROM THE ROUNDHOUSE COMMUNITY CENTRE

INDONESIAN ARTWORK STOLEN FROM THE ROUNDHOUSE COMMUNITY CENTRE

A Papertole Artwork was stolen on Monday, May 29, 2006 between 9:30-10:00pm from the Roundhouse Community Centre Exhibition Hall.

This framed piece of artwork was part of the explorASIAN Joint Exhibition of Indonesian & Taiwanese Artists at the Roundhouse.

DESCRIPTION OF STOLEN ITEM:
Title: EAGLE
Papertole artwork with a 3 dimensional appearance
40cm x 55cm with approximately 10 layers of papertole art paper
Darkwood frame with front glass – 68cm x 80cm

This is a 3 dimensional picture of an eagle with fully-stretched wings on the rocky hill/mountain.

It is a cream and silvery color with feathery artpaper on its wings and with dried flower as a finishing artistic touch. This artwork represents an advanced level skill of papertole creation.

Value: Sentimental value for the artist because of its high level of difficulty in creating it.

Unfortunately we do not have a photo of the stolen piece. If someone has a photograph of the stolen piece, we would appreciate getting a copy of it.

Attached is a photo of a different but very similar artwork. The colour of Eagle #1 (stolen artwork) and Eagle #2 (image attached) is exactly the same. The colour of the frame is also the same.

The most noticeable difference one can see on Eagle #1 is that Eagle #1 stands on the rocky hill/mountain with full stretched wings.

This piece of papertole artwork was specially created by the artist to be sold at this weekend’s two fundraising events at the Roundhouse exhibition with proceeds to go towards the earthquake relief in Indonesia.

We appeal to the person who took this piece of papertole artwork to return it to the Roundhouse Community Centre with no questions asked or contact us to arrange pick-up.
