The Sixth Annual Toronto Chinatown Festival

The attractions planned for this year are local and international acrobats, lion and dragon dances, martial arts demonstrations, singing, dancing and cultural talent. Another feature of the Festival is our local business and sponsor booths. These booths will be filled with local merchandise of Asian arts and crafts, along with samples of scrumptious Asian cuisine. This Festival promises to be an educational and fun-filled family weekend with an expected total audience of 150,000 over both days.

Festival Attractions:

Asian Street Foods
Arts and Crafts Showcases
International Market Place with about 100 merchants
Performances of Lion dance, Dragon Dance, Martial Arts, Ethnic Dances, Cantonese Opear, Youth Bands, Chinese Traditional Music Ensembles.
AGO children program and children chorus.

The objectives for The 2006 Toronto Chinatown Festival are to increase cross-cultural understanding, raise collective public awareness and share the many positive attributes of the ethnic, racial, religious, and culturally diverse communities while providing opportunities for communities to share their cultures with others who would not usually have an opportunity to engage in celebrations of the featured culture. The City of Toronto is renown worldwide for it’s racial and cultural diversity. The Toronto Chinatown Festival builds on that valuable community asset and offers a vehicle for other organizations for access some of Toronto’s rich communities.
