Income tax e-filing back up and running, tax agency says
OTTAWA (CP) - Canadians can file their taxes online again.
The Canada Revenue Agency says problems that prevented electronic filing of income-tax returns since last week have been solved and the system is back up and running.
In a statement on its website, the agency apologizes for the service interruption and assures taxpayers that electronic filing "continues to be the fastest and most secure method of processing tax returns."
A software glitch shut down the revenue agency's online personal-tax processing system March 5.
The problem eventually shut down all personal income-tax processing, including returns submitted by mail, while business returns were not affected.
The agency's computer system has been known to go down for a few minutes on occasion, officials say, but this was the first time it crashed for longer than an hour.
