Toronto Art Expo, entering its fifth year, with over 300 exhibitors and 20,000 attending has grown into the largest show of its kind in North America. It is unique among other large shows held in a similar venue as the MTCC, here or the U.S., in that it is an artist only Expo, not overwhelmed within a predominant craft or antique show or a minor adjunct to a larger gallery fair such as the New York Art Expo. As such it has become a destination for gallery dealers and many other art business professionals to engage competent and mature talent---and they have come from all over North America and Europe. Cross referencing the participating artists? exhibition biographies, they include all the major galleries of Toronto as well as many more in the wider international art field, as an increasing number of international artists are now making their way to the TAE due to its spreading reputation in the artist world as a premium venue for sales and gallery contacts.
This year will feature a large component of great sculptors from across Canada, Korea and 3 of Israel's best.
As well a special contingent of 5 artists from Moscow, Russia will be visiting, representing avant-garde work from that country. They will join returning artists from Germany, Japan, USA, and new visitors from Dubai and Ethiopia.
Also for the first time in Canada, contemporary work of five women Aboriginal artists from Australia.
The TAE is an integrated celebration of the visual and other vital cultural activities. Throughout its 4 day run it will feature the performances of world classical music and dance. This year?s schedule will include classical East Indian (Menaka Thakkar Dance Company) as well as Jeng Yi, Korean traditional folk/shamanistic music, drum and dance and other Korean musical and dance forms, TASA, Toronto?s mystifying fusion of Indian Tabla and Jazz, concerts of early European Baroque music by Camerata Tibia demonstrating the baroque styles of 5 European countries, a concert of traditional Irish/Bretagne music by the Patrick Ourceau group and two performances by Quebec?s world renowned La Bottine Souriante, returning after 6 years for 2 evenings? performances.
A RIME Canada (a Not For Profit Org) event.
